Privacy Policy

Effective date: 1 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Pantry Watch handles information when you use the Pantry Watch Android application and this website.

1. About Pantry Watch

Pantry Watch helps users organise pantry items, track food expiry dates, receive reminders and create recipe suggestions from available ingredients.

2. Information you provide

Depending on how you use the app, you may enter information such as a display name, food names, categories, quantities, expiry dates and product barcode numbers.

3. How information is used

Information is used to provide core app functions, including maintaining your pantry list, showing expiry status, scheduling reminders, producing pantry insights and generating recipe suggestions.

4. Storage of pantry information

Pantry information is primarily stored on your device. If a future version introduces an optional online backup or synchronisation feature, this policy will be updated before that feature is made available.

5. Barcode scanning and product lookup

When you scan a barcode, Pantry Watch may send the barcode number to a product information service, such as Open Food Facts, to retrieve available product details. The barcode is used for product identification.

6. Recipe suggestions

When you request a recipe suggestion, ingredient information needed to fulfil the request may be processed by the service used to generate the recipe. Please do not enter personal or sensitive information as pantry-item data.

7. Notifications

If you grant notification permission, Pantry Watch may send expiry reminders and other app-related notifications. You can disable notifications through your device settings.

8. Subscriptions and payments

Pantry Watch subscriptions are processed by Google Play. Pantry Watch does not receive or store your full payment-card or bank-account details. Google handles payment processing and subscription management under its own terms and privacy policy.

9. Third-party services

Pantry Watch may use services supplied by Google, Firebase, Google Play, Open Food Facts and providers used to support recipe generation. These providers may process limited information needed to deliver their services and operate under their own privacy policies.

10. Sharing and sale of information

Pantry Watch does not sell your personal information. Information is shared only where reasonably necessary to operate the app, comply with law, protect users or enforce legal rights.

11. Data retention and deletion

Locally stored pantry data remains on your device until you edit it, delete it, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. You may contact us regarding a privacy request using the email address shown below.

12. Children

Pantry Watch is not specifically directed at children and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Security

Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect information. No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

14. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction or deletion of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to make a request.

15. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the app, applicable law or service providers change. The effective date above will be revised when material updates are made.
